The Una police have registered a suo motu FIR in response to rumours about money extortion threats received by businessmen in the district. Una SP Rakesh Singh said the FIR was filed based on social media reports.

The SP said the police had received an official complaint from a jeweller in Mehatpur, who reported a money extortion threat. He said a few similar complaints had emerged from Nangal, just across the state border in Punjab. The SP said they would coordinate with their counterparts in Punjab to investigate these cases.
