US philanthropist donates dollar 11,000 to IIT-Mandi

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mandi has received a generous donation of over $ 11,000 from US-based philanthropist Satish Agrawal to establish the Satish and Kamlesh Agrawal Scholarship. The scholarship, initiated in Houston, Texas, will provide critical support to meritorious B.Tech students at the IIT-Mandi.

The endowment, formalised through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with the Institute, aligns with the IIT-Mandi’s mission to promote inclusive excellence, equity and accessibility in higher education.

A spokesperson for the IIT-Mandi said that Satish Agrawal and Kamlesh Agrawal’s contribution reflected their deep commitment to the transformative power of education and their desire to empower the future generations of scholars, innovators and leaders.

Prof Laxmidhar Behera, Director of the IIT-Mandi, and Prof Varun Dutt, Dean of Resource Generation and Alumni Relations, acknowledged the significant impact of such philanthropic support in strengthening the academic and research environment of the institution.

“This donation will ensure that financial barriers do not stand in the way of academic excellence,” said Behera.
