Maryland State University, USA, has conferred an honorary PhD degree, and a gold medal in Law and Education, upon Dharam Pal Malhotra.

Malhotra is chairman of Bhartiya Public School, Chamba, and the Deputy Chief of Legal Aid Defense Council, Chamba. The degree was conferred upon him in recognition of his contribution to the fields of law and education at a convocation ceremony held at India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi on July 14.

Malhotra has been a practising lawyer for over four decades. He has authored two books.
