Five youth travelling in a newly bought a car were killed after the vehicle met with an accident on Shilti road. According to police, the mishap took place near the Karcham-Reckong Peo link road.

The deceased left the automobile showroom at Shudarang in the newly bought car and headed for Sangla. However, just 5 kms away, the vehicle rolled down into a deep gorge.

The police and QRT teams arrived at the site and immediately swung into action to rescue the victims. However, all the occupants had succumbed to their injuries and could not be saved. All bodies were recovered from the opposite side of the road.

Kinnaur SP Vivek Chahal said the occupants were from different villages of Kinnaur. The deceased were identified as Arun (Shong), Abhishek (Kalpa), Upendra (Sapani), Tanuj (Khawangi) and Sameer (Bararang).
