Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh inaugurated four bridges worth about Rs 12.30 crore at Bakhali area of Seraj Assembly constituency in Mandi district yesterday.

He inaugurated a single-lane bridge constructed at a cost of Rs 1.54 crore at Kyolinal in Dhim Kataru gram panchayat, a 40-m double-lane bridge constructed at a cost of Rs 6.35 crore on Bakhali Khad in Lambathach, a 30-m double-lane bridge constructed at a cost of Rs 2.76 crore on the Patikari-Bada Shihal Kashimbalidhar road and a 15-m bridge constructed at a cost of Rs 1.65 crore on Deol Khad on the Shilibagi-Deol Jainsla road through NABARD.

The minister presided over a ‘Sarkar Gaon ke Dwar’ programme organised in Tandi gram panchayat of Seraj Assembly. He was accompanied by Mandi MP and Congress state president Pratibha Singh. In the programme, he listened to people’s problems and solved them.

More than 70 public applications were received in this programme held at Nature Park, Bakhali. Most of these were demand proposals.

Addressing the public, he said that development had been given impetus in the Seraj area through the Public Works Department. He said that Rs 2,800 crore was being spent in the third phase of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in the state under which the work of improving and upgrading roads would be done.

“To provide relief to the people hit by the monsoon fury last year, the state government had released a package of Rs 4,500 crore from its own resources. Out of this, maximum relief amount has been distributed in Seraj Assembly constituency,” he said.

On the demand of construction of Bihadi- Narodi road from Kashimbali Dhar, he directed the officials to complete all the formalities and proceed further. He announced to give Rs 50,000 as token amount for the construction of the road. He instructed the Forest Department to prepare a case for the improvement of the playground in Khona-Kufri of Kashod gram panchayat.
