Addressing a meeting of the ‘PM Surya Home Muft Yojna’ here recently, Deputy Commissioner Amarjit Singh said the model solar village with the most solar setups installed — once declared Solar Village — would be awarded Rs 1 crore.

Six villages — Barsar, Chakmoh, Jahu Khurd, Dhamrol, Darogan and Bela — had been notified under the scheme, he added, noting that over 2,000 persons resided in all selected villages. The DC said villagers in the identified villages would be encouraged to install solar infrastructure, and the village having highest number of solar setups would be declared Solar Village and awarded Rs 1 crore.

Members of Panchayati Raj Institutions, youth clubs and women organisations should be involved to achieve best results, he told officials.
