The government has revoked the suspension of Desh Raj, Director (Electrical) at Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL), and has sent him back to Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL), his parent department. Desh Raj was suspended following the death of Vimal Negi, Chief Engineer at the HPPCL, as Negi’s family had accused him of harassing the deceased.

According to a senior official, a new Director (Electrical) could have been appointed at the HPPCL only after Desh Raj was sent back to the Board. “His services at HPPCL have been terminated and now it is for the HPSEBL to decide where he will be posted,” he said.

The official further said the inquiry against Desh Raj would be started once the investigation into the case is over. The CBI is investigating the case.

Meanwhile, Vimal Negi’s family is not happy with the revocation of his suspension. “He should have been kept suspended until the CBI investigation was over,” said Kiran Negi, the wife of the deceased.
