The damaged portion was the station’s mess where meals were being prepared. The police station, housed in a pre-Independence building with brick and clay masonry, has long been in a dilapidated condition.
Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Bhatia confirmed the injuries were minor and that the jawan was out of danger. He added that adjoining rooms, including offices, have also become unsafe. With the structure posing a risk to personnel, the district police have requested urgent relocation.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahender Pal Gurjar, who also heads the Una Municipal Corporation, has assured full support in providing an alternative facility. Meanwhile, arrangements are being made to evacuate staff from the unsafe building to ensure their safety.
