Water scheme for 2 Ghumarwin villages

A Rs 7 crore water supply scheme has been sanctioned for Panol and Amarpur villages in Ghumarwin subdivision of Bilsapur district to provide regular supply to villagers. Rajinder Garg, Food and Civil Supply Minister, stated this yesterday after inaugurating borewells for Kharla and Panol Chowk in the Ghumarwin constituency of Bilaspur district installed at a cost of Rs 11.25 lakh and Rs 4.5 lakh, respectively.

Garg said that these borewells would relieve both villages of water shortage. He added that there would be sufficient water supply once the proposed scheme is completed.

“Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has approved a water supply project of Rs 53 crore for the Ghumarwin constituency. Under the project, water will be lifted from the Sutlej near Dehar to Ladraur. A seven-storey structure has been completed at Dehar. A water tank of seven lakh litres capacity has been constructed at Tyune village and another tank of four lakh litres capacity at Ladraur. Once operational, the scheme will provide sufficient water to over 50 villages and also enhance supply of small schemes, too,” said the minister.

Garg said that to provide all government facilities under one roof, a mini-secretariat was being constructed at a cost of Rs 26 crore in Ghumarwin.

A sub depot of the Himachal Road Transport Corporation had also been started at Ghumarwin and a fleet of new buses would be provided to the depot.
