Weather has cleared up following two days of snowfall and rainfall in the state, but the average minimum and maximum temperatures continue to be appreciably below normal at most places in the state.

As per the weather department, the weather will be clear for at least another week, except for the possibility of some light rain/snow at isolated places in the higher reaches of district Lahaul and Spiti, Kinnaur and Chamba on December 12. The average minimum and maximum temperatures will see some increase over the next couple of days.

Following the snowfall on Sunday night, the roads on Monday were slippery at some places and some vehicles met with an accident. On Tuesday, though, most of the roads have been restored for traffic. As per a PWD official, most of the over 80 roads that were shut for traffic on Monday morning have been restored for traffic. “Apart from a couple of roads, all roads are functional now,” said an official from PWD’s Shimla Zone.

While the weather will be clear over the next few days, there is a high probability of fog over the area close to Bhakra dam in Bilaspur and Balh Valley in district Mandi.
