The Tourism Department, with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), is set to construct two wellness centres at a cost of Rs 70 crore at Silver Moon hotel in Shastri Nagar, Kullu, and Manalsu Hotel in Manali.

These two hotels of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) will be renovated and converted into wellness centres. Kullu District Tourism Development Officer (DTDO) Sunayna Sharma said Rs 43.98 crore would be spent on the wellness centre to be built in Manali, and Rs 26.30 crore on the centre in Kullu.

“At Manalsu Hotel, tourists will get the facility of an ice skating rink, swimming pool, yoga hall, massage and luxurious rooms,” she added.

The DTDO said Silver Moon hotel would have several facilities — including rooms, swimming pool, yoga hall and ayurvedic massages.

“The Tourism Department has started the tender process for both the projects and both the tenders will be opened in the next few days,” she added.

Tourism businessmen Nihal Thakur and Man Singh said the wellness centres would give wings to tourism in Manali and Kullu.
