The local MeT office has issued orange warning of heavy to very heavy rains at isolated places in districts of Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur on July 26 and yellow warning of thunderstorm and lightning and heavy rains in seven to nine districts barring Una, Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti on July 23 and 25.

Following intermittent heavy rains during the past few days, the dams of hydropower projects have been filled and water is being released from 11 dams. There are 21 dams in the state.

As many as 25 roads are blocked following landslides triggered by rains. Six roads each are closed in Sirmaur and Kullu, four each in Chamba and Mandi and one each in Shimla, Hamirpur, Kangra, Solan and Una. In addition, 116 power transforms have been affected by rains.

Light to heavy rains lashed parts of Himachal. Nahan was wettest with 80 mm of rains followed by Kufri 72 mm, Paonta Sahib 39 mm, Shimla and Jatton Barrage 27 mm each, Jubbarhatti 26 mm, Sarahan 25 mm, Narkanda 23 mm, Kasauli 22.5 mm, Rajgarh 17 mm, Kotkhai 16.5 mm, Sangrah 15 mm, Theog 12 mm, Kumarsen 11 mm, Kalpa 10.5 mm, Palampur 10 mm, Gohar 9 mm, Berthin, Guler, Nichar and Pachhad 5 mm each.

Keylong in tribal Lahaul and Spiti district was coldest at night recording a low of 11.5 degree C while Una was hottest in the day with a high of 35.2 degree C.

The MeT office said that monsoon was normal in Himachal Pradesh during the previous week and the state received average 71.9 mm against the normal rainfall of 68.7 mm.
