THE construction of a car parking facility near the SDA complex in Vikasnagar is a positive initiative by the Shimla Municipal Corporation. It would offer relief to people, especially employees and businessmen in the area. With the base structure now complete, it would be beneficial if the nearby road, leading to Saraswati Vidya Mandir School, got the necessary attention. The stretch is filled with bumps and potholes, causing inconvenience to commuters. If tarring is not feasible at the moment, it could be levelled and smoothed using an excavator and road roller. —Jawahar, Shimla

Overflowing tanks

IN some areas of Panthaghati and Vikasnagar, overflowing water tanks have become a common sight, leading to the wastage of water. The authorities concerned should take stringent action against the people whose tanks keep overflowing. —Naresh, Shimla

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
