THE most important landmark of Shimla, the Ridge maidan is being ruined by holding events, exhibtions and such other activties. People have been raising their voice against the menace. The administration needs to think of some other place to for holding public events and spare the fragile ecology. —Jawahar Kaul, Shimla

Traffic snarls in Nerwa

Vehicles are being parked on the roadside in the main market area in Nerwa in Shimla district due to which commuters have to face a lot of inconvenience. As a result of these parked vehicles, half of the road is occupied that leads to unnecessary traffic congestion. The administration should look into this matter. —Umesh, Nerwa

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
