Will approach HC if Sanjauli mosque issue not resolved by March 15: Sangharsh Samiti

The Devbhoomi Sangharsh Samiti has expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in the decision regarding the demolition of a mosque in Sanjauli. The group has warned that it will approach the High Court if no resolution is reached by March 15.

Speaking at a press conference, advocate Jagat Pal stated that the land on which the mosque stands is government-owned, according to Revenue records. He raised concerns about the Himachal Pradesh Waqf Board’s request for additional time to present its records, alleging possible tampering with the documents. Pal argued that since the structure is on government land, it is entirely illegal and should be demolished.

The issue stems from a December 21 hearing in the Commissioner’s Court, where the court granted three months to the Sanjauli Mosque Committee and the Waqf Board to demolish the mosque’s top three floors. The demolition work had initially begun in October following the court’s earlier directives. However, the committee had sought additional time during the hearing to complete the process.

The Samiti has criticised the delay, urging authorities to expedite the case and take strict action to ensure compliance with the court’s orders.
