“National Herald is our newspaper and we will keep giving advertisements to it,” said Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu while responding to a question whether the state government had given advertisements to the newspaper.

The government had also shared this information during the Budget session in the Vidhan Sabha while responding to a question asked by Bharmour MLA Janak Raj. The MLA had sought information on how much money the government had spent on advertisements in the mass media from January 1, 2023, onwards. As per the reply, the government gave advertisements worth Rs 97.90 lakh to National Herald in two years, beginning January 2023.

The Chief Minister said that National Herald was the Congress’ own newspaper, wherein money was neither taken nor given. “So what is this case all about? Nothing has come out in the case in 11 years. Now, it’s being blown out of proportion merely for political purpose,” he alleged.
