The Department of Language and Culture awarded winners of the state-level Sanskrit Diwas celebrations being organised at the Government Sanskrit College here.

Department of Language and Culture Director Pankaj Lalit said Sanskrit was not only the oldest language, but also a medium to know oneself. “Sanskrit is a storehouse of knowledge, studying which is a matter of pride,” he remarked.

The Director honoured the winners during the programme. Besides, the department also honoured the judges of these competitions. In recitation of shlokas, Gunjan secured the first place, Himanshu and Abhishek secured the second and third positions, respectively.

In the Vedic Mantra recitation competition, Gopal stood first, Ankit Joshi second and Avtar Chand stood third.

Akshay stood first in Sanskrit Geetika Competition, stood second and Kusum secured the third place. In Sanskrit speech competition, Vandanav stood first, Sujal Sharma second and Namrata Uppal was placed third.

Government Sanskrit College Principal Mukesh Sharma thanked the department for organising the programme and encouraging the students.
