Woman charred to death after fire breaks out at house in Shimla’s Rohru

Affected family gets relief of Rs 10,000

A 70-year-old woman was charred to death after an intense fire broke out in a two-storey house in Rohru town, Shimla, on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Dosari Devi, wife of Diwan Chandigarh and resident of Kutara village in Rohru.

According to reports, the fire broke out at the house of Shyam Lal at 8:30 pm and immediately spread throughout the house. Sensing the fire, the family members who were present inside the house escaped, but Dosari was unable to do so.

Fire tenders were rushed to the spot.

Sub Divisional Magistrate Rohru Vijay Wardhan confirmed the report and said that the cause of fire is being ascertained.

A relief of Rs 10,000 had been provided to the affected family, said SDM Wardhan.
