Woman killed, two injured in head-on motorcycle collision

A 21-year-old woman died and two men were injured after a head-on collision between two motorcycles at Rajera on Chamba-Bharmour Highway on Saturday. The woman was identified as Babita Kumari, a resident of Banad village in Bandla panchayat of Chamba district.

Injured Sunny Kumar, a resident of Tipri village, and Siddharth, a resident of Mugla locality of Chamba town, were admitted to Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College, Chamba, where doctors reported their condition as stable and out of danger.

The accident took place around 10 am when one motorcycle, driven by one of the victims, was heading from Chamba towards Bharmour, while the other driven by a man with the woman riding pillion, was going from Bharmour towards Chamba. Upon reaching Rajera, the two bikes collided head-on. Due to impact of the collision, the three bike riders fell on the road.

Passersby and local residents immediately informed the police and provided aid to the injured. The victims were rushed to the medical college, where Babita Kumari was declared brought dead upon arrival.

The police arrived at the spot shortly after receiving information about the accident. An investigation into the cause behind the accident was initiated, said Abhishek Yadav, Superintendent of Police, Chamba.
