The police conducted a search in the house of suspected drug peddler Raji Devi at Tamota village in Indora last evening and recovered 9.42 grams of heroin (chitta). The police team also recovered Rs 60,000 earned through drugs from the possession of Raji Devi and her son Namveer, alias Badal.

SP, Nurpur police district, Kulbhushan Verma said that a case under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act had been registered in Indora police station and the accused mother and son duo had been arrested. He added that an investigation was underway.

The involvement of women of a particular community in the interstate border areas of Nurpur police district has become a matter of concern. A number of such women drug peddlers have been arrested along with contraband during the past two years.
