Youth found dead in Mandi, drug overdose suspected

In the Khayuri village of Balh tehsil in Mandi district, a group of shepherds, passing by the area, noticed a young man lying face down yesterday. They raised an alarm, attracting nearby residents to the scene.

According to the police, the deceased was identified as Ajay Kumar of Reegar village in Mandi.

"The young man was found dead, with a syringe clutched in his hand, suggesting that he might have been attempting to administer a drug dose but was unsuccessful. Local residents shared that the youth had been working for a company outside the area and had returned home just a couple of days ago," the police said.

Mandi SP Sakshi Verma said investigations were underway, with all possible aspects of the case being examined. Authorities suspect that a drug overdose may have contributed to his death. However, the cause of death will be ascertained after autopsy report.
