Youth to make state self-reliant via entrepreneurship: Dharmani

Minister for Technical Education Rajesh Dharmani yesterday said that to encourage entrepreneurship among the youth, various programmes would be launched in technical institutions of the state in collaboration with the Industries Department and the Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority (HIMUDA).

Dharmani, while chairing a meeting of the Technical Education Department here, emphasised the role of the youth in making Himachal Pradesh self-reliant through entrepreneurship. “The youth of the state are full of innovative ideas and energy. These initiatives will develop leadership skills and provide opportunities for young innovators to turn their ideas into viable ventures, with guidance from industry experts,” he added.

He highlighted the growing sectors of beauty, wellness, fashion etc and said that collaboration with national brands was helping train the youth and attract them towards these industries. The curricula were being updated to match modern industry requirements. In line with the digital era, a skill academy and a digital university would be established to strengthen technical and digital skills among the youth, he added.

Dharmani stressed the importance of disaster management in the state and said that the students of Industrial Training Institutes, multi-technical and engineering colleges would be given practical training to effectively handle emergency-like situations. Secretary (Technical Education) Sandeep Kadam, Director Akshay Sood and other senior officers attended the meeting.
