The by-election for the Zila Parishad member in Sissu Ward No. 6 of the tribal district of Lahaul-Spiti was held peacefully with a voter turnout of 53 per cent today.

Sachin Thakur, Assistant District Election Officer (Panchayat)-cum-District Panchayat Officer, said the by-election was held across 20 polling stations in the four gram panchayats of Koksar, Sissu, Khangsar and Gondhla.

Out of 2,363 registered voters in Sissu Ward No. 6, comprising 1,187 men and 1,176 women, 1,247 cast their votes today, Thakur said. This included 673 male and 574 female voters. The election process was conducted smoothly, reflecting the community’s engagement in the democratic process, Thakur added.
