As many as 11 persons were killed and over 20 injured on Sunday after two state-run buses collided head-on in Tamil Nadu, police said. According to a senior district police official, the accident occurred approximately 15 km from Karaikudi in Sivaganga district, and all 11 victims — eight women, two men and a child — died on the spot.

More than 20 persons sustained injuries and were rushed to government medical facilities for treatment, the official said. On the casuse of the crash, the official added, “It was a head-on collision, the reason is not clear, we are looking into it.” The injured were admitted with severe wounds, including fractures to the arms, legs and head.
