Rs 259 crore spent on PM’s foreign visits in 2 years
A sum of Rs 259 crore has been spent in thirty months on foreign visits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Ministry of External Affairs, while responding to a question posed by Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, gave a breakdown of spending on PM’s foreign visits between May 2022 and December 2024.
The MEA said the expenditure on foreign visits by the PM included the expenditure on officials, accompanying security and media delegations. It listed 38 visits undertaken in this period.
“For reference purpose, expenditure on the PM's earlier foreign visits were Rs 10.74 crore (US, 2011), Rs 9.95 crore (Russia, 2013) and Rs 8.33 crore (France, 2011). These figures show actual expenditure without adjusting for inflation or currency fluctuations,” the Ministry added in its response.
