Aadhaar authentication transactions surge 32%
Aadhaar authentication transactions soared to a new milestone in January 2025, surpassing 284 crore, a 32 per cent increase from the 214.8 crore transactions recorded in the same period last year. This sharp rise underscores the rapid expansion of India’s digital economy, according to the Centre.
On average, over nine crore Aadhaar authentications are conducted daily, reflecting the growing adoption of the system across various sectors. Currently, around 550 entities rely on Aadhaar authentication services for seamless digital verification.
The Aadhaar face authentication service has also seen remarkable growth. In January alone, nearly 12 crore face authentication transactions were completed. Since its launch in October 2021, the total number of face authentication transactions has crossed 102 crore, with 78 crore of them occurring in just the past year. This AI/ML-driven solution, developed by UIDAI, is being increasingly used in finance, insurance, fintech, healthcare, telecommunications and government services to enhance efficiency and ensure targeted delivery of benefits.
Additionally, the Aadhaar e-KYC service continues to play a crucial role in both banking and non-banking financial services by improving transparency and streamlining customer verification. In January 2025, over 43 crore e-KYC transactions were completed, pushing the total number of e-KYC transactions to 2,268 crore by the end of the month.
With Aadhaar’s expanding role in digital verification and financial inclusion, its growing adoption is set to further strengthen India’s digital economy in the coming years.
