The Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to UP MLA Abbas Ansari — son of the late gangster-politician Mukhtar Ansari — in a money laundering case.
Acting on Ansari’s petition challenging the Allahabad High Court’s order denying him bail, a Bench led by Justice MM Sundresh ordered the release of the Mau MLA, who is currently lodged in Kasganj jail since November 2022.

The Allahabad HC had rejected Ansari’s bail plea on 9 May, citing the material on record, including flow charts that clearly demonstrated the origin of the laundered funds.
