The residents of Millennium City may soon get relief from the ongoing infrastructure crisis with Haryana finalising an action plan to address their problems. The proposed action plan, if successful, may be replicated as Gurugram’s “Model of Governance” in other cities of the state.

Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Rajesh Khullar here today said under the resolution plan, joint efforts would be made to address issues surrounding sanitation, roads, drainage, stray animals, trimming and disposal of trees, and open garbage burning.

The action plan has been prepared based on feedback from various citizen groups, resident welfare associations, social and other institutions, etc. A drainage plan presented by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) authorities suggested linking of major storm water drains with the Najafgarh drain to solve waterlogging. The sewage treatment capacity of 408 MLD would be increased to 950 MLD by 2028 with new and upgraded sewage treatment plants at Bajghera, Dhanwapur, Behrampur, and Sectors 78 and 107. Khullar separately met municipal corporation councillors and Class-I officers posted in the district to discuss the action plan and timelines to achieve the targets. During his interaction with Mayor Rajrani Malhotra and councillors, Khullar said Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini was committed to resolving Gurugram’s problems and that positive results would be visible soon. He sought councillors’ cooperation in this endeavour.

In his session with district officers, Khullar raised concern over citizens’ complaints about accidents involving power lines during the monsoon season.

He directed Police Commissioner Vikas Arora to ensure registration of cases against the junior engineer, sub-divisional officer and executive engineer concerned of the area if such incidents recurred.

He also cancelled the leave of power department staff till November and asked officers to carry out field inspections, check power lines, and ensure proper trimming and disposal of tree branches.

On reports from various groups about garbage being brought into Gurugram from outside, Khullar directed MC and police officials to seize such vehicles and register cases against the agencies involved. He further ordered strict action against those burning garbage in the open, asking station house officers to keep vigil in their respective areas.

Khullar also directed officials to remove stray cattle from roads and keep roadsides free of garbage and debris.
