Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Leader of the Congress Party in the Lok Sabha, has strongly denied news broadcast in a television channel saying he might join the BJP.

In a letter addressed to Barun Das, MD and CEO of TV9 network, the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee chief on Friday said the least the channel could do was to issue an “immediate apology on air” and also disclose the source’s name who gave the “baseless news”.

The Murshidabad MP warned that otherwise he would “take recourse to legal action”.

Chowdhury wrote that news that he was upset with the Congress and likely to join the BJP aired by the channel and being picked up by other media channels was not only “totally incorrect” and “full of falsehood” but also smacks of being “malafide”.
