After Israel, Taiwan to hire Indian workers

New Delhi, February 16

After Israel, which is absorbing tens of thousands of Indian workers, another outlier in world politics, Taiwan, says it has signed a memorandum of understanding with India to do the same.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Labour issued a press release, stating in order to strengthen bilateral labour cooperation, the Taiwan and Indian Governments on Friday signed an MoU via video-conferencing in the presence of Ge Baoxuan, representative to India, and Ye Dafu, president of the Indian Taipei Association.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Labour said the two sides would exchange letters in accordance with procedures and convene a working-level meeting as soon as possible to discuss the opening details, reported Taiwanese media. There has been no response from the Indian Government yet. The MoU will then be submitted to the Legislative Yuan for review and a working-level meeting with the Indian side will be held to discuss implementation details.
