Airbus appoints Jurgen Westermeier as president and MD for India, South Asia

He will assume the role on September 1, 2025.
In his new role, Jürgen will spearhead Airbus’ business in India and South Asia, across commercial aircraft, defence and space, and helicopters, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.
He will also be responsible for commercial aircraft sales and for expanding the company’s footprint in the region, which includes services, engineering, digital, innovation and training.
The Airbus is making its military aviation plane, the C-295, in India in collaboration with Tata. The same – Airbus -Tata -- JV has set up a final assembly line for helicopters in the country. It produces Airbus’ best-selling H-125 helicopter from its civil range for India and export to some of the neighbouring countries.
Airbus and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has long standing tie-up on working jointly. On the commercial side more than 450 of the Airbus planes have been ordered by airlines in India.
Westermeier is currently the Executive Vice-President and Chief Procurement Officer at Airbus. He will succeed Rémi Maillard who will go on to be Executive Vice-President, Engineering for Commercial Aircraft and Head of Technology at Airbus.
The company said Jürgen will also help advance Airbus’ commitment to ‘Make in India’ by supporting the company’s campaigns aligned to this vision.
