Amit Shah slams Opposition for disruption in Lok Sabha during Jaishankar’s speech on Op Sindoor

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday strongly urged Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla to censure opposition members who were interrupting the speech of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Operation Sindoor. He said that if this did not happen, the government would not be able to check its MPs too.

"When their speakers were talking, we were listening patiently. Many were peddling lies, which I will expose tomorrow. But today we even swallowed their lies. But they cannot even hear the truth," Shah said to the Speaker amid opposition’s disruptions during Jaishankar's speech.

Shah said it did not behove the opposition to repeatedly needle the minister. "I think Mr Speaker you should grant protection. Everyone knows how to needle others. Not that we cannot needle. Mr Speaker you should firmly tell them to stop, else we also won't be able to stop our MPs," Shah said in a terse tone.

Earlier, Shah also slammed the opposition for disbelieving Jaishankar's remarks that no US mediation happened in ceasing the India-Pakistan conflict and said "it is because of the opposition's (Congress) trust in foreign powers over their own External Affairs Minister that they are sitting in the opposition and will continue to sit there for the next 20 years to come."

Shah said the Indian Foreign Minister is speaking but the opposition does not believe him. "They believe in another country. I can understand the importance of foreign powers in their party but that does not mean they will impose their party politics on Parliament. They will not trust the Foreign Minister of India? A minister who has taken an oath of the Constitution is speaking. He is responsible. This is the reason they are sitting there — and will continue to sit there for the next 20 years,” Shah said, in a jibe aimed at the Congress.
