Armed forces do yoga at multiple locations

The Indian armed forces conducted yoga sessions across the country to mark the 11th International Yoga Day. The Army conducted Yoga sessions at the world's highest battlefield, the icy heights of Siachen. Sessions were conducted across terrain and climatic conditions through the expanse of the country.

The flagship event (Yoga Sangam) led by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi at RK Beach, Visakhapatnam saw approximately 10,000 naval personnel participating. The Navy personnel were part of the event which saw three lakh people doing yoga.

Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi led the Naval participation along with Naval personnel. A common yoga session was conducted at all naval bases and ships at sea and in harbour, including at foreign ports. Approximately 50,000 Naval personnel, families including defence civilians and their family members enthusiastically participated in yoga programmes, the Indian Navy said.

Indian Naval warships mission deployed across Indian Ocean conducted yoga session at sea and in foreign ports in Mauritius, Oman, Malaysia and Indonesia. The Indian Air Force celebrated Yoga day at Headquarters of the Western Air Command, in New Delhi. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) also marked the day with thousands of personnel and their families at more than 60 locations across India’s coastline and island territories doing yoga.
