The Army has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tiranga Mountain Rescue (TMR) for providing trained mountaineers to boost its rescue and survival operations in mountainous terrains.

These teams would be stationed as key locations that are prone to such snow-avalanches. Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi was present at the signing. The MoU stipulates that TMR will collaborate with the Army in conducting customised training programs for instructors, aimed at improving their ability to mentor troops in avalanche rescue and survival skills.
