ASHA workers to ensure health scan for all above 30, says Nadda

ASHA workers will now ensure that every person above 30 years of age undergoes regular health screenings, enabling early detection of serious health concerns such as diabetes, heart diseases, hypertension and cancer, Union Health Minister and BJP president JP Nadda said on Thursday.

Speaking at the National Health Conference organised by Sarv Kalyankari Trust (SKT) and SRS Foundation here, Nadda highlighted the expansion of the Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Scheme.

SKT president Abhishek Rana said, “Government schemes can be impactful only when information reaches every citizen.” He said the trust would soon organise medical camps, screening workshops and awareness dialogues.

AIIMS Rishikesh chairman Dr Raj Bahadur said the Ayushman Bharat scheme had improved access to healthcare for economically weaker populations.

During the conference, several doctors and representatives of social organisations were recognised for their contributions.

Dr Bahadur received the lifetime achievement award, while other awardees included specialists in orthopaedics, dermatology, gastroenterology, paediatric neurology and other fields. Organisations working in health awareness, social service and science communication were also honoured.

The programme was also attended by Rajya Sabha MP Harsh Mahajan and SKT trustees Rajendra Rana and Yashpal Aggarwal among other guests.
