The BJP has accepted the resignation of its firebrand Telangana MLA T Raja Singh, who had quit slamming the party's choice of state president, while rejecting his charges as irrelevant.
Upset over the likely appointment of N Ramchander Rao as the BJP's Telangana president, Raja Singh had on June 30 written a letter to then-incumbent G Kishan Reddy, saying the decision has come as a shock and disappointment to lakhs of party members and that it should be considered his resignation letter.
Hours later, Rao was elected in place of Reddy.
In a communication to the Goshamahal MLA, BJP general secretary Arun Singh said his letter was brought to the notice of the party's national president J P Nadda.
He said, "The contents mentioned by you are irrelevant and do not match to the functioning, ideology and principles of the party."
According to the direction of Nadda, Raja Singh's resignation has been accepted with immediate effect, Arun Singh added.
Raja Singh is known for his hardline Hindutva politics and has often sparked controversies with his inflammatory utterances, especially aimed at Muslims. He was once suspended from the BJP.
