Global aerospace giant Boeing has tied with AI Engineering Services Limited (AIESL) to provide the overhauling services of critical components for the Navy’s fleet of Boeing P-8I aircraft in India itself.

The Navy has 12 of these planes, which have ability to do long-range surveillance and hunt down enemy submarines. The fleet is integral to the Navy’s maritime surveillance missions. Boeing had partnered with AIESL and the first overhaul of the landing gear of a P-8I aircraft was recently completed at Navy base INS Rajali, Tamil Nadu. “This reflects the growth in India’s indigenous capabilities for undertaking complex Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services,” a statement by Boeing said.
