Aerospace giant Boeing on Monday appointed Alay Parikh as director of business development for Boeing Defence, Space and Security and Global Services in India. The US-headquartered company said, “India is at the front and centre of Boeing’s business plans and is one of the largest defence markets for Boeing.” Salil Gupte, president, Boeing India and South Asia, said, “As we deepen our engagement in the region, Parikh’s background and familiarity with operations will play a critical role in advancing priorities.” Parikh brings nearly two decades of experience at Boeing, where he has held key leadership roles across the company’s global defence and supply chain operations. At present, armed forces operate the following Boeing made equipment – the transport planes C-17, attack helicopters the Apache, heavy lift copters the Chinook and the long-range maritime surveillance planes the P-8I. Another five planes are in the VVIP fleet, which are operated by the Indian Air Force.

AIIMS-Nagpur intern ends life

Nagpur: A 22-year-old intern at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Nagpur, allegedly ended his life by hanging himself in his hostel room, the police said on Monday. Sanket Panditrao Dabhade was found hanging from the door of the bathroom in his room at AIIMS hostel on Sunday, an official from Sonegaon police station said. He said Dabhade, who hailed from Jintur in Parbhani district, had completed MBBS and was interning at AIIMS. PTI

Two held in Odisha self-immolation case

Bhubaneswar: An Odisha ABVP functionary and a student who shot the video of the 20-year-old woman setting herself on fire on a college premises in Balasore district were arrested on Monday on charges of abetment of suicide, the police said. An officer said one of the two arrested men knew the woman’s plan. PTI
