Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Sri Lanka early next month to finalise agreements reached during President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s visit to Delhi last year, a minister said on Saturday. Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath made the statement while responding to a question on budget allocation debate in the parliament here.

ONGC employee kills two minor sons, self

Kakinada (AP): A 37-year-old ONGC employee, V Chandra Kishore, has allegedly killed his two minor sons for “poor academic performance” and died by suicide here, a police official said on Saturday. The boys were allegedly drowned by their father in a bucket of water around 10 am on Friday as he was disappointed with their academic performance, police said.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
