A local court here has acquitted seven accused in the Muzaffarnagar riots case due to lack of evidence, a counsel said on Sunday.

More than 60 people were killed in the communal riots of 2013 in Muzaffarnagar and Shamli. Additional District and Sessions Judge Kanishk Kumar said the prosecution failed to prove its case.

60-yr-old man held for ‘raping’ minor

Jajpur (Odisha): A 60-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl in Odisha’s Jajpur district, the police said on Sunday.

The 14-year-old Class 9 student had gone to the accused’s grocery shop, where he allegedly raped her. The elderly man then fled the spot, it said. The minor’s mother found her lying in an unconscious state.
