Cabinet resolution terms Delhi blast heinous terror act, vows justice

The Union Cabinet and the Cabinet Committee on Security on Wednesday described the November 10 Red Fort blast as a heinous terror incident by anti-national forces and vowed zero tolerance to terrorism in all its forms.

The Cabinet and the CCS, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, observed a two-minute silence in memory of those killed in the Monday blast and directed the investigators to conclude the probe urgently and bring the “perpetrators, collaborators and sponsors” of the incident to justice.

A resolution passed by the Cabinet read, “The Cabinet directs that the investigation into the incident be pursued with utmost urgency and professionalism so that the perpetrators, their collaborators and sponsors are identified and brought to justice without delay. The situation continues to be closely monitored at the highest levels of the government,” said the resolution.

It said, “The country has witnessed a heinous terror incident, perpetrated by anti-national forces, through a car explosion near the Red Fort on the evening of November 10. The explosion resulted in multiple fatalities, and caused injuries to several others. The Cabinet pays its solemn respects to the victims of this senseless act of violence and conveys its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah briefed the Cabinet and the CCS on the terror incident and the status of the investigations into the matter, with PM Modi directing all those responsible to be brought to justice.

Earlier today, the PM, soon on landing in Delhi after concluding his Bhutan visit, went straight to the Delhi Government-run Lok Nayak hospital where the injured were admitted.

After meeting the survivors, he said, “Went to LNJP Hospital and met those injured during the blast in Delhi. Praying for everyone’s quick recovery. Those behind the conspiracy will be brought to justice!”

Later today, the Cabinet reaffirmed the government’s resolve to safeguard the lives and well-being of Indians consistent with its enduring commitment to national security and the safety of every citizen.

It reiterated India’s “unwavering commitment to a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations”.

“The Cabinet also recorded its appreciation for the statements of solidarity and support from many governments around the world. The Cabinet also noted with appreciation the timely and coordinated response of the authorities, security agencies and citizens, who acted with courage and compassion in the face of adversity. Their dedication and sense of duty are deeply commendable,” stated the resolution.
