Case registered over CEC’s fake video in Kerala

Was used to spread false information about upcoming local body elections

A case has been registered after a fake video of the Chief Election Commissioner related to the local body elections in Kerala surfaced on social media platforms, officials said on Saturday.

The video propagating false information about the upcoming elections was traced to the X social media platform. It was found during cyber patrolling operations on Friday.

It contained a fabricated photo and edited video of CEC Gyanesh Kumar, officials said. The police suspect that the same video was circulating on other social media platforms as well.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
