But that good friend suddenly becomes a Mauni Baba whenever President Trump says he stopped Operation Sindoor and now when he says that India will reduce its imports of oil from Russia.”
Ramesh further cited trade figures to question the government’s foreign policy priorities, pointing out that India’s trade deficit with China had widened in the first half of the current fiscal year. “Meanwhile, India’s trade deficit with China during April-September 2025 increased to $54.4 billion as compared to $49.6 billion in the same period last year,” he wrote.
The Congress leader’s remarks come amid renewed debate over India’s energy diplomacy and trade ties, following Trump’s comments on the campaign trail suggesting that India had privately promised to align closer with Washington’s stance on Moscow.
