Nagaon (Assam), January 22

It seems that from now Prime Minister Narendra Modi will decide who goes to temple and when, said senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi when he was not allowed to visit the Batadrava Than, the birthplace of Assamese Shri Shri Sankardev.

“Even after having permission to visit Sankardev Janmasthan at Nogaun, we were not allowed. This shows that the PM and his government will decide who should go to temple and when,” Rahul said.

“It is very strange that they are not allowing me to go to the temple on the plea of law and order, but local leaders, including Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, were allowed to visit the temple,” he added.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday advised him to visit the place after the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple was over in order to avoid ‘unnecessary competition’ (between the Congress and the BJP).

Rahul’s yatra encountered another hurdle after Morigaon DC asked the Congress leader not to hold a street-corner meeting and a ‘padayatra’ to avoid law and order situation citing reports that miscreants might try to disrupt peace in the district.
