ED gets 4-week custody of 2 ex-IAS officers

Retired IAS officers Anil Tuteja and Alok Shukla -- both accused in the high-profile Nagrik Apurti Nigam (NAN) scam of Chhattisgarh -- were on Monday sent to ED custody for four weeks.
Both the retired bureaucrats had surrendered before a court in Raipur.

The scam, which dates back to 2014-15, involves alleged corruption in the state’s Public Distribution System (PDS). According to the ED, procurement of rice and other commodities by the NAN was manipulated, leading to losses to the exchequer and massive kickbacks to officials.
The agency has accused Shukla of receiving illegal gratification worth Rs 2.21 crore and Tuteja of taking Rs 1.51 crore during their tenure. Evidence of these transactions was allegedly recovered from a pen drive seized from an aide of Tuteja.
The accused duo will now remain in the agency's custody at their Delhi headquarters till October 16.
