Fake admissions: CBI officials examine records of PM Shri school in Rewari

Two officials from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) visited the PM Shri Government Girls Senior Secondary School in Rewari city on Thursday and scrutinised the records of 2014–15 and 2015–16 academic sessions.

The inspection lasted nearly six hours and is believed to be part of an ongoing probe into alleged fake admissions detected in government schools. The school is reportedly one of several under the scanner in Rewari district.

Sources said the CBI planned to visit at least seven more government schools located in Bawal, Jatusana, Khol, Nahar, and other blocks. The agency inspected another school for the same reason yesterday as well. They said the investigation was focused on suspected irregularities in student enrolment figures, disbursement of stipend and the distribution of government-sponsored benefits, such as mid-day meals and financial incentives meant for students under welfare schemes.

“The CBI officials arrived at the school around 9 am and stayed until 3 pm. Since they had served prior notice, we had kept all relevant records from 2014–15 and 2015–16 ready for their review,” Dharambir, school principal, told The Tribune.

He said the inspection focused mainly on documents related to stipends and scholarships provided to students from the Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes. “They also went through records of other facilities offered under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, including mid-day meals. The officials did not seize or take any documents with them during the visit,” the principal said.
