In one of the worst outages for Meta in years, its entire family of apps — Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Threads — went down for millions across the globe, including in India, as users were thrown out from their accounts.

There was no official announcement from the company as to what caused this massive outage. While Facebook logged users out of their accounts, people were unable to refresh their feeds on Instagram and stories and comments were not loading.

X rival Threads also went down, displaying an error message. WhatsApp, also owned by Meta, still appeared to be working.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
