India has suspended train services connecting Bangladesh in view of the ongoing protests by students in Dhaka and other cities.

More than 100 agitators have died in firing by the security forces.

“Due to unavoidable circumstances, the 13107 Dhaka-Kolkata Maitree Express (journey commencing from Dhaka on July 21) and the 13108 Kolkata-Dhaka Maitree Express (journey commencing from Kolkata on July 22) will remain cancelled,” the Eastern Railway said in a press release.

Citing uncertainty in the availability of rakes, the ER has also cancelled 13129 Kolkata-Khulna Bandhan Express (journey commencing on July 21) and 13130 Khulna-Kolkata Bandhan Express (journey commencing on July 21).
