Meetings of the committee consisting of representatives of farmers, eminent agricultural economists, scientists and senior Central Government officials are regularly being held to make MSP more effective and transparent said the Minister of State for Agriculture, Raminath Thakur, in reply to a question by the SAD MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal in the Lok Sabha. The committee members included three members from the Samyukta Kisan Morcha, five from other farmer organisations and representative of farmers’ cooperatives.

No sports injury centres in Haryana, says minister

There is no such proposal under consideration before the Centre to establish a dedicated sports injury centre in medical colleges in Bhiwani, Haryana, said Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav in reply to a question by Rajya Sabha MP Kiran Choudhary.

38,484 houses completed under PMAY-G in Punjab

A total of 38,484 houses have been completed in Punjab under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) scheme as on December 12, said Minister of State for Rural Development Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani in reply to a question by the Congress MP Amrinder Singh Raja Warring in the Lok Sabha. The state has been allocated a total target of 1,03,674 houses out of which 63,985 were allocated for the year 2024-2025.

Alternative to rice-wheat cycle in pipeline: Thakur

The Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare is implementing the Crop Diversification Programme under the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana in the original Green Revolution states, including Punjab, to divert the area of water guzzling paddy to alternative crops including pulses, oilseed, coarse cereals, nutri cereals and cotton, said Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Ram Nath Thakur.
