Govt urges media channels to refrain from using air raids sirens sounds in programmes

Routine use of sirens likely to reduce the sensitivity of civilians towards the air raids sirens

The Directorate General of Civil Defence, Home Guards and Fire Service have urged upon all media channels to refrain from using civil defence air raids sirens sounds in their programmes.

In an advisory issued by the department, it said that apart from using them for educating people, the air raids sirens sounds should not be used in media channels.

It said that the routine use of sirens may likely reduce the sensitivity of civilians towards air raids sirens and civilians may misunderstand it as a routine matter, used by media channels, during the actual air raids.
